Other than the pollution issue, a car mechanic is more experience than you may be. So they may be able to spot certain issues with your car during the check, that you may miss out on. Hence, your safety may be an issue.

So what is being done at KGC Workshop during car servicing?

Funny enough, the whole process feels like a full medical check-up. We go through our car servicing checklist to ensure that nothing is being missed out. Following that, we will give you a report and will give you a recommendation on what needs to be done, other than just changing your engine oil, and oil filter.

We use an OBD reader to ensure that there is no fault code your car is telling us. While removing and installing the wheels, we always use a torque gun for tightening, to ensure that your car tyre will not come off while you’re driving. Yes, you may have seen videos of that.

How to save money on car servicing?

Car servicings are typically not too expensive, unless you’ve got items that are faulty, and require fixing. At KGC Workshop, we have car servicing packages that allow you to save up to $400 – as of 2022.

Choosing between the major engine oil brands like Liqui Moly, HKS, and Amsoil, there is an option for every car make. There are 2 package styles for you to choose from, the 4x and 3+1

Package 4x

In Package 4x, choose an engine oil of your choice, and use it for the next 4 car servicing when you’re with us. This package includes all the point checks, reports and recommendations as well.

Each package is based on 4 litres of engine oil. If your vehicle requires more engine oil, all is required is a top-up fee from the 4 litres price. What’s special about our package is that it is transferable from car to car. This means you can also share it with your family and friends!

Package 3+1

In Package 3+1, choose an engine oil of your choice, and enjoy 3 times of regular car servicing, and 1 “major” car servicing with it.

Whilst at about 10,000km, it is recommended that you perform a regular car servicing, to change the engine oil and oil filter, at every 40,000km, it is recommended that you change the following items as well,

• Brake Fluid
• Coolant Fluid
• ATF / Gearbox Fluid
• Spark Plugs
• Air Filters
• Aircon Filters

This is why 3+1 packages include these items as well. Choose when do you want to change these items, or allow our service advisors to guide you accordingly.

Before that, let’s find out, what is engine overhaul and do you need it?

Engine overhaul is basically giving your engine a new life. Most engine wears out over time due to heat and normal wear and tear. Some engine deteriorate quicker than others from being driven too hard like a race car. Or it’s affected by not enough engine oil, or lack of maintenance. The list goes on.

In short, everything has a shell life. And your engine is no different. When you notice your engine oil level is always dropping, fuel efficiency is not as good as before or there are weird sound coming from the engine, it’s best to consult a mechanic to check of there is a need to overhaul your engine.

Overhauling your engine is not a simple task. It consist of deconstructing of the engine and having new internal components such as new pistons, piston rings, main bearings, valves and springs. There are many more steps to be listed but just know that other than the engine, everything inside will be new!

The engine is removed from the chassis for this job, instead of leaving it in the chassis of your car. The process typically takes about a week to complete as all parts are dissembled and then fixing them back again.

The benefits of overhauling your engine is pretty obvious. You will enjoy the engine like it’s brand new. Better fuel consumption will be seen. More quieter engine like a new car and the power of your engine will be back!

A good overhaul can last you for another good 5 to 10 years. It’s as if you got a new car all over again for the next decade.

GATHER EVIDENCE REGARDING THE ACCIDENT

Evidence of the accident such as taking picture of the accident scene and surrounding. Try to cover as much as possible. Including the damages incurred. Definitely, take note of the number plate of any parties involved.

Don’t miss out the date, time and location of the accident scene. Having the weather and road conditions may help too.
